Minnesota Grown Directory Helps Consumers Find Berries

It’s strawberry time, and the Minnesota Grown Directory is here to help consumers find the nearest berry patch! Produced by the Minnesota Grown Program of the MN Department of Agriculture, the Directory lists information about farmers’ markets, nurseries, apple orchards, pumpkin & berry patches, and other locations where consumers can buy straight from the grower. There are more than 560 farms and markets listed in the 2004 guide, including more than 100 offering berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, elderberries, currants, black raspberries, and blackberries). Directories are available for free by calling 1-888-TOURISM. Minnesota Grown also offers them in boxes of 75 for distribution by calling 651-296-4939. (Growers who wish to participate can call that number as well.) The guide is also available online, with hot links to grower web sites and interactive maps at: www.minnesotagrown.com
