Grape Berry Moth

Grape berry moth was caught in pheromone traps located in vineyards in Stillwater and Hastings, MN. The peak of the overwintering generation occurs at 190 degree-days (base 10° C). Therefore, based on the accumulated degree days to date in Stillwater (184) and Hastings (204), the adults found in the pheromone traps are from the overwintering generation. There are 2-3 generations in Minnesota. Because grapes are currently in the early stages of growth (bud swell to 5th leaf separated), the overwintering generation is not likely responsible for damage to the ripening berries. However, the 1st generation coincides with berry ripening, and is the primary source of damage to the berries.
