Grape Flea Beetle, Grape Berry Moth, and Multicolored Asian Lady BeetleT.L. Galvan and E.C. Burkness, University of Minnesota Densities of grape flea beetle adults decreased in the vineyards this week. However, larvae of the first generation were found feeding on expanded leaves. Grape berry moth (GBM) adults of the overwintering generation are still flying. Adults were caught in all of our GBM pheromone traps, but the numbers were low. Larvae of the first generation will feed on the flowers, and if populations are high enough, yield losses may occur. The first catch of multicolored Asian lady beetle (MALB) on yellow sticky cards was in mid-May, between bud swell and 5 leaves separated stages. Currently, vines are at the beginning of the flowering stage (12-13 leaves separated). The densities of (MALB) on the yellow sticky cards ranged from 0.1-1.7/card at vineyards in Hastings, Stillwater, Afton, Red Wing, and Somerset (WI).
