University of MN Plant Licensing Task Force Progress

From: MN Grown Update, Volume VI, Issue 4, Summer II, 2006

The release of new apple variety MN 1914 caused quite a commotion within the Minnesota apple industry and spurred some significant conversations at the legislature this past session. One outcome was the creation of a Plant Licensing Task Force to provide input to the University of Minnesota regarding procedures for releasing future plant varieties. The task force is charged with delivering a final report to the legislature in early January of 2007. Meeting minutes, a list of task force members and background information is available at www.maes.umn.edu/plantlicense.
