2007 Minnesota Grown Directory Now Available

The Minnesota Grown Directory is an annual statewide consumer guide to "direct from the farm" products.  It lists more than 660 locations (a new record) where consumers can "Buy Local".  Hot off the press, the 2007-08 Directory includes 85 public farmers' markets, 83 places to find fresh strawberries in season, and almost 100 apple orchards among the direct-marketing farms and markets listed.  This is the 27th year a directory has been printed by the MN Department of Agriculture.  The Minnesota Grown Program printed 175,000 copies this year.  This large print run is made possible by the support of many advertising sponsors and participating growers who pay $40 each for a listing in the guide.

Complimentary Directories are available to anyone with an interest in supporting Minnesota's direct-marketing growers and "Buying Local".  Free single copies of the Directory are available to consumers by calling Explore Minnesota Tourism at 1-888-TOURISM (1-888-868-7476).  The guide is also offered online for download, ordering print copies, and as a searchable database at the MN grown web site: www.mda.state.mn.us/food/minnesotagrown/directory.htm
