Marketing Local Food
(MISA- Minn. Institute for Sustainable Agric.)
The options for farmers to market their products locally are growing! Where do you start? What option will work best for you? Marketing Local Food is a handbook designed to help Minnesota farmers explore the various options for marketing local food. It introduces the basics of different marketing systems, suggests resources and includes profiles of farmers who are selling farm products directly to consumers via farmers' markets, roadside stands, CSAs, on-farm stores; as well as information and profiles about selling indirectly via retail food establishments or food services. Print copies (118 pp) of this publication are available from the MISA office (see below).

Minnesota Guide to Organic Certification (MISA):
This new publication is based on a previous MISA/Extension publication. Jim Riddle, of the Southwest Research and Outreach Center’s (SWROC) Organic Ecology Program updated and expanded the information so that this guide is up to date with National Organic Program Guidelines. The 52-page guide explains the organic certification process (crop and livestock), and includes a summary of USDA organic standards. It is produced in cooperation with the University of Minnesota’s SWROC and University of Minnesota Extension.
