Pesticide Label and Safety Updates--Reminders

Bill Hutchison and Patrick O'Rourke, University of Minnesota, St. Paul.

Regarding 2003 pest management questions, and constant changes to pesticide labels, this is a good time of year for a mid-season review of currently labeled insecticides for key crops of interest. One of the best sites to review is the CDMS site. You can search by product or company. Nearly all major companies support this central web-based database where label changes are rapidly posted. This site is located at: http://www.cdms.net/manuf/manuf.asp

To view an updated list of all pesticides currently labeled in Minnesota, and selected U.S. states, the following database, maintained at Purdue University, is now available on the WWW at: http://state.ceris.purdue.edu

For more general information on pesticides, pesticide safety, you may want to bookmark the following two sites: Minnesota Project-NC Pest Management Center at: http://pestmanagementcenter-mn.coafes.umn.edu/ and the Pesticide Safety and Environmental Education Program, at: http://www.extension.umn.edu/pesticides/index.html
